Don't worry about your white hair, rather be glad that it took so long for them to appear! I had my first couple of gray hairs already in my mid twenties...
( ... )
My daughter has some white hair in her thirties - probably something to do with the man and the small child... Bodie and Doyle are much better for you!!
I know what you mean about the LJ posts but sometimes if you know someone quite well you just want to post... it costs less than a stamp at today's rates!! I don't think many people feel competetive about it (like 'she got more posts than me'). And also sending cards for any and every occasion is, I think, much more part of Brit (and maybe American) culture than German.
From my point of view you are still young... ...but Happy Birthday anyway!!
It's certainly much more cosy with Bodie and Doyle than with RL (husband)struggles! Both would be nice! ;-)
And it wasn't my first white hair - just when you feel depressed since long, and you wake up at your birthday, and the first thing you see is that 'thing' - well, that's a bit as if there is someone making bad jokes...
As for the white hair... that's why they invented hair dye, honey. ;) I'd like to be 50 again, but sadly, there's been no time travel machine invented. ;)
You're totally allowed to be a grumpy 'old' lady - birthdays do that to us, whether you're turning 30 or 50 doesn't matter.
As for the birthday acknowledgement thing, well, I don't actually know anyone that compares what they 'got' to what someone else did. It's nice to get a bit of acknowledgement, but definitely not necessary or essential. Speaking for myself, I didn't feel the need to post something for your birthday, I wanted to do something. It's just my little way of saying thank you to the people who comment on my writing throughout the year.
I recommend a nice glass of wine and a couple of episodes of Pros to chase away the birthday blues. ;)
Now thtat's probably the best advice for a day like that! A glass of wine and Pros episodes. Will obey in the evening! :-)
Yeah, a time travel machine would be very nice! (...are there Bodie/Doyle stories with that?) 'When' would I go? 20 again? 18? What would I change? Something else to think about in the evening! Puh - I think I need a lot of red wine... :-)
"I didn't feel the need to post something for your birthday, I wanted to do something." That's nice! :-)
I remember my 50th, it's all a bit hazy as it was so long ago, but I do remember it*g* and white hair doesn't mean much because it can come at any age. Think about all the wonderful things you can do with your life from now on - even the simple things like walking in the rain:) Or reading Pros fic:D
Thank you very much for your wishes! I'm somehow happy that I'm not alone...
At work there are so many much younger men around..., and I always cringe when a 30 years old is complaining that soon he has to take care of his mid-50s parents because they 'start to become strange'... Probably reading Pros as well? :-)
Sigh! Maybe the white hair was the wrong cliff hanger? I can live with it! It's just that you feel you have to take stock when you reach that magical borderline... And it's not always funny what you see!

As for the white hair, I'm dyeing mine now as I'm over 5% grey. I'm 'only' 35...
(And it's not even going cool-y grey - no gorgeous white streaks for me. *curses*)
