I am about ready to blow a blood vessel in my brain. I got a USB Flashdrive for Christmas, and have been using it, just fine thank you, to transfer files to my new laptop. Today I threw some winamp files on it, and brought them over and when I went to delete, it said it's write protected! The fuck. So I checked for a button on it, none, I tried ( Read more... )

I'm sure its and obvious answer but did you try the manufacturers web site? If they have one that is? The other thing is to try trolling message boards. I generally find answers to my problems in technical boards.

Gah, I'm stumped...I tried everything on my own keychain device and it won't work either.

Did you try formatting it? You'll lose everything, but start out with a clean slate.

Did you try bringing them back to the original computer? As in... can you get the stuff off at all, or is it just the laptop that won't let you? I've had a few floppy disks do pretty much the same thing, but I can usually get files back off on the original computer again, so at least they're safe for a while.
