Removed:
He'd do anything for her, and he wants to take her home to meet the family sometime. Marco gives Grell back some humanity and passion by giving her some reasons to think outside of herself to understand why Marco's upset about something, and generally he works through things by protecting someone else, and covering Grell in affection works well for that.

Added:
He'd do anything for her, and now that he took her back to “meet the family” during the May event, he's planning something big for their July year-long anniversary. Her killing tendencies worry the fuck out of him. He doesn't handle his family/loved ones getting injured well and he's head over heels about her, so every little injury makes him worry. In general Marco gets a kick out of spoiling Grell as much as he can, as that's his style and lets him show off, so sometimes he kind of outdoes himself with trying to top his previous stuff

Marco has a soft spot for Lost Boys. Call it a Peter Pan/pirate complex or whatever. He looked after Ace during his rampage phase, and that doesn't end just with him. Toby came to the Garden heavily emotionally scarred and terrified and Marco went and got him food and tried to calm him down with his phoenix form as Toby is great with animals. He's basically adopted Toby as something of a son and loves him to pieces. Anyone who messes with Toby can expect swift and terrible phoenix revenge as can only be given by a Whitebeard pirate so famous for revenge. He was a complete wreck when Toby was in a coma and Espio had to make him eat and sleep or he wouldn't have. Toby drew him a picture of Whitebeard and Marco treasures it to pieces, and Toby has a blue phoenix plushie somewhere of Marco. Like a father, Marco's got some high hopes for Toby to get stronger and forge his own path, but he worries a lot about him especially since Toby's been through a lot and mostly doesn't fight back, which makes Marco extra determined to protect ( ... )

Canonically, (spoilers everywhere) Marco's heard a ton about Luffy from Ace. A ton. Enough that he recognized him in a heartbeat when Luffy was at the battlefield of Marineford. Luffy earned a lot of Marco's respect by stopping Crocodile (one of Luffy's allies) from trying to kill Whitebeard even in the midst of the fight, and he further earned even more respect with Marco and the crew by charging blindly to save Ace and holding his own half of the time against foes that clearly outclassed him. Marco's personal duty during the battle was to protect Luffy and when Luffy had the best shot at getting to Ace, the entire Whitebeard crew was commanded to simply back up Luffy and give him a clear path. When Ace died, Marco said that the whole of the Whitebeard pride rested on getting Luffy out alive because that was all that remained of Ace's will (as Ace died to protect Luffy ( ... )

All of Marco's relationships have a wtf factor. With Doc Worth, it's all just wtf and nothing else. Worth is one of the few doctors Marco was willing to trust without Chopper, pretty much because all of Doc's skeevyness is extremely apparent so Marco doesn't worry he's hiding the skeevy. WHY this makes it better who really knows. They bond over how red-heads are difficult, happy penis drawings, and playing gay chicken. Because they're uh special. While he didn't show it well, Marco was touched by Doc's concern when he was wanted by the government so even though they mostly goof off and are ridiculous, he knows there's real friendship in there too.
