This was not how things were supposed to happen.
He had not expected to fall, had not expected to follow his brother down, when he had made the sudden move to reach forward and grab Sam Winchester, in the attempt to pull him back.
If only he had had his rightful vessel, his stronger vessel, the one that had been made - and destined - for him from the very beginning; if only everything had been as it should have been, Michael was sure that he would have succeeded in pulling Sam Winchester back from the edges of his brother’s cage.
But such was not the case, and so Michael followed his little brother down, watching as the ground closed above them.
