“Jason?” Casey called as she wandered into the diner from his apartment. He wasn’t in bed when she woke up and he didn’t answer her. “Jase?” she asked, glancing into the kitchen.
“Oh, shit,” she mumbled, as she ran back into his bedroom to get her cell phone. She pressed the speed dial to call him as she walked back into the diner.
She glanced up as the phone rang and saw a small bouquet of flowers lying on the counter. She closed her phone, then smiled and shook her head as she picked up the note and read it.
“Casey-
Sorry. I had to take care of something at the station. Don’t worry about it. I’ll be back soon.
By the way, the diner’s supposed to open at 10. You mind?
-Jason”
She glanced at the clock. Nine forty-five. “My day off,” she mumbled as she shook her head again and walked back to his apartment to get dressed.
