Day of Art

Had a day of art today. Went to two galleries and a museum that were required shows to see for a class. They all basically sucked. Then I went to a show that was not assigned for class but I was interested in, the Your Bright Future show at the LACMA. (Work by twelve contemporary Korean artists.) I like the part about the animal costumes - but I'm not a big fan of video installation art (although my friend who does the video for the degenerate art ensemble would probably throw his shoe at me if he knew that).

Often people who are most tied to film as narrative are rarely fans of video art. And you are a film buff...

It might also be that you've never seen any GOOD video installation art. Like all art, it's mostly crap. I've never seen any really good stuff in Seattle. The museums are way too conservative to carry it. Most of the stuff the galleries show looks like it's from a collection of the history of video art. Boring...
