The Perils of a Full Tub

Our water provider is doing some work on the system in our neighborhood today, so we got a notice that the water might be off sometime between 9:00am and 2:00pm today. We prepped for it, filling pitchers with water to leave by the various sinks for handwashing... and this morning, after my shower, I also filled the bathtub so that we'd have some

Oh, poor Numfar! Does she usually get in the bath when it's empty?

Yeah... she'll hop in and sit there, for some reason (I suspect the tub surface may just feel good underfoot or something). And she gets really curious about the water when we're actually in the tub (okay, maybe "perplexed" would be a better term). I really do think she hopped in without looking.

LOL that reminds me of something that happened to a pet rabbit we had when I was a kid. Everyday we'd let the rabbits out of their hutches to run around the house or backyard while we played with them. Our oldest rabbit, Loppy, used to jump into the bathtub when he was ready to go back into his hutch. (probably because when we first rescued him off the streets, after being abandoned, we kept his cage over the bathtub while my parents got better accommodations for him.)

One day my sister took a bath and forgot to drain the tub afterwards. Leaving it completely FULL! So Loppy just hopped in at a run into the tub and had to start swimming. Poor thing! After that he always hopped next to the tub and put up an ear to listen for water before hopping in.

LOL! Well, at least he learned! I suspect Numfar will be a bit more cautious about jumping in there in the future, too.
