I was looking for John Barrowman singing Anything Goes from the Torchwood DVD extras on YouTube for smittenkitten27 and since I was already there I'm watching more stuff with him
( Read more... )
I found another version of it on YouTube, just as magnificent but very different. Where this one is joyous the other is almost angry. As if someone just bashed him about being gay just before he went on stage. It's very powerful but I think I like the happy one better, for the petty reason that it makes me happy. lol
Could you really? I would be forever grateful. Both versions if you could, that would be so great. I would love you forever!
I think it probably depends on my mood which one I favour at the moment. The angrier version is very powerful, makes me shiver and my heart beat faster. The other one makes me feel hopeful and empowered. But both of them are superb.
cf33 is gonna try and rip the music from the I Am What I Am vids. I'll upload them if/when I get them so you can get them too. I so love that song, both the English and the Icelandic version, and this is one of the best performances I've heard. Btw, hubby thought Palli was singing it on his newest CD but I could only find the Allt fyrir ástina mini CD. Do you know anything? I didn't think he'd ever recorded it even if he sings it at NASA sometimes.
Oh man, that's just glorious. I was thinking when I was watching it, how many gay kids are given the courage to come out seeing JB so open and exuberantly gay.
Isn't it just? There's a huge difference between singing a song and really SINGING it. And man does he sing it. So much emotion put into every single word. Just wonderful.
I think it must be very important for gay kids to have someone being so publicly proud and happy about being gay. Considering how many gay men/women there probably are in Hollywood/show business it's a bit sad how few have found the courage to be open about it.
We have two very big gay rolemodels here. One is Páll Óskar who has been The Gay Man of Iceland ever since he came out and became known as Frank 'N Furter in his junior college rendition of Rocky Horror, only 19 y.o. A gorgeous man and a wonderful singer. Great DJ too. (MySpace page hereThen there is Felix Bergsson who is hands up the best kids show host we've ever had together with his friend Gunnar. Married (although not to each other since Gunnar is not gay) with kids and always open and friendly and just someone you can't dislike. Apart from children's stuff he's an actor on stage mostly and

A Musical Christmas with John Barrowman (live concert) Kenedy Centre Cabaret (live concert) Aspects of Andrew Lloyd Webber (CD - looks like jail bait on the cover!) Reflections from Broadway (CD - looks yummy on the cover)
Plus assorted interviews and vids. Let me know if there's anything there you haven't got and I'll see what I can do... [kisses]
Well, hello there! Long time no see! *snuggles you*
Hmmm, let's see... raynedancer is going to upload the X-mas album and I have Reflections but I would appreciate the others. And a downloadable version of that first I Am What I Am performance, if you have it. *grins*
Yeah, I don't really "have" them, I just linked from YouTube and I don't know how to download from there. So if you have them for me to keep on my laptop I would be very happy. *bounces*
Btw, got your email and am reading over it now. *hugs*

Wonderful both of them. Funny how hee can make the same song sound so different every time. This one is certainly joyous, very Broadway. *g*
Girl, I'll take whatever you have, if you do have more with him. I already have Reflections from Broadway but otherwise just this.
I'm on a John Barrowman high!
