“I know that I'm a monster.”
What if, just this once, she’d granted herself permission to follow her impulse? To throw caution to the wind, to toss Council brainwashing to Hell where it belonged, to take a leap of faith? To edge closer, and closer still, until she could hold this man in her arms, and lend him eyes to see, that he was not a monster, not anymore, and silence those trembling lips with a fiery kiss that promised more: everything her heart held, everything they could be? And to feel, with certainty, the truth between them?
