It's a coracle or currach, which is actually historically accurate, and also - they're a complete cow to balance and steer correctly. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coracle

I wonder if Colin managed to go in the drink or whether they had people stabilising it?

Nice to see some authenticity in our wonderfully anachronistic little show.

I spent way too much time around boats as a kid. Although I think the first time I heard of a coracle was reading CS Lewis when I was wee.

Yes, it's ridiculously cute - even more so with Colin in it. :D
