Bra problem

Mar 22, 2013 00:05

I've recently developed a problem with wearing my bras (over the past three weeks). Under my right arm, below my armpit, my side has been going numb and it goes up into my arm and hand. If I pull the bottom part away from my side the feeling comes back but not in my arm unless I massage it and move it around. My arm is still feeling weird even when ( Read more... )

Seconding the recommendation to see a doctor.

The medical system in the US is disgusting. Everywhere else in the developed world has universal healthcare but not here! Oh no, if people could actually *just go to the doctor when they needed to instead of worrying about how much it cost,* that would be socialized medicine! EEEEEEEK.

Sorry for the rant, but spouse of a doctor here. It drives us crazy that access to for-profit health insurance controls access to medical care.

I can't wear underwire bras anymore at all. I was getting all sorts of pains from them, and since I stopped wearing them, all my pains went away.

Interesting, I might try going that route if I could find some that give enough support without being ridiculously tight. bleh

Thanks for the comment! :]

If you aren't able to go to a new. Go get measured and buy a new bra. Even LB will do that. It may just be time for new bras.

Can a person measure properly at home? I don't have any stores that do that around here, I've always just tried stuff on until they fit comfortably.

Yes. http://www.wikihow.com/Measure-Your-Bra-Size I would suggest getting someone to help you because it's important to hold the tape straight to measure.

I know it sounds odd, but sometimes, even though it seems like nothing's changed lately (weight gain, bloating, etc.) suddenly some aspect of those changes hits, causing clothing (especially bras!) to fit improperly. I don't know what it is -- maybe there's a change in how the fat is distributed, or in skin elasticity, or in underlying muscle -- but for whatever reason, suddenly there's an effect on clothing. Yes, I'm speaking from experience here. ;)

Since you said the numbness goes away after you've had the bra off for a bit, it seems to me that this really *is* a clothing issue, rather than an underlying medical issue, but I'm not about to tell you not to mention it to your doctor.

These bras by Lane Bryant are comfy and are fairly supportive because of the wide underband: http://www.lanebryant.com/cacique-plus-size-sexy-bras-intimate-apparel/bras/no-wire-bras/4043c4044c117/index.cat
