That's compound interest, and the assumption that out of money otherwise stolen as taxes (I took 50% as a baseline, but ignored all additional regulatory damage), people would spend 4/5th and save or invest 1/5th. The estimate is, obviously, seriously over-simplified and sensitive to the yield (as all long-term compound interest calculations are), and ignores the secondary effects (i.e. all those government busybodies having to do something useful for a change, lack of war spending, improved productivity due to higher capitalization, and such). But no matter how you slice it, the damage inflicted by the governments is staggeringly enormous, and, still, people fail to see it.
