Just finished The Shape Changer's Wife by Sharon Shinn and loved it. The first I've read of her and will have to look for more.

Ooh I really liked this book (I read it in high school and forgot the title and author but eventually rediscovered it). I'm a big fan of Shinn's Twelve Houses series and Summer at Castle Auburn. But people absolutely rave about the Archangel series.

I loved the Archangel series. It's a little strange b/c it seems religious at first, but it's awesome.

I just finished the Poison Study trilogy by Maria V. Snyder. (I personally liked the first book best.)

I have that, couldn't get into it. May try to pick it up again at some point.

Me too! I loved Poison Study, then felt like her books after gradually decreased in quality. I hope she writes another really good one.

I felt the same way. But the whole time I was reading it I couldn't help but think that it's like a cross between Sharon Shinn's Twelve Houses series and Trudi Canavan's The Black Magician's trilogy.

The Name Of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, Shadowbridge by Gregory Frost, and Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay.

Also rereading Sunshine by Robin McKinley, just 'cause.

Hi there! :D I'm also reading The Name of the Wind. Just started yesterday; I'm on page 40 and still in the present, thankfully. I'm not fond of retrospective books, but so many people seem to like Rothfuss that I decided to give him a try.

I loved The Name of the Wind! Rothfuss has been putting off the second book forever... My sister was telling to me today that there's a definitive release date in 2011, yay!

The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Just started. I don't expect to love this book, but I hope I will enjoy it.

Yesterday I finished Blood Rites by Jim Butcher, the 6th volume of Dresden Files. This is the last Dresden on my list. I'm dropping the series. The books are all the same and Dresden annoys me... Too much of the world spins around him.

I don't have defined to-read list now, but Heroes Die by M. W. Stover is pretty high on it. :)

I only read the first Dresden and wondered why everyone I know seems to like it so much.

As for the Rothfuss, it's been laying on the floor since I put it down 3 weeks ago. Definitely not a book to love for me either.

I don't really get it either. I managed to get so far only because a) I craved horribly urban fantasy that is not paranormal romance, b) people kept telling me it gets better. It never did; quite the opposite, it became clear that all volumes are written on the same plot template. What's worse, it seems in further volumes even villains are recycled. I read reviews of volumes 7-11 and I'm certain I don't want to read any more.
A shame, really. The main concept of a modern wizard was promising, IMHO.

May I ask where did you stop? I'm on page 160 out of 860 now. The book is not boring, but it's rather tiring - so far Rothfuss managed to surprise me only with the amount of cliches.

I stopped at Chapter 16, so page 122. I suppose it isn't boring, but I find myself searching for the reason it won the Quill award and so much hype.

About the Dresden series, I agree it had a lot of potential. I actually bought the first book for a friend as a birthday present just because I wanted to hear what she'd say about it. She's quite a series reader so she may like it.
