What are we watching, exactly?

There are differences in content for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, depending on what format we watch. Sometimes there is a "previously on" at the beginning, or an "into each generation..." intro. There may be cuts to make space for more commercials, or for "objectionable" language or sex. So what are our options?

I fell in love with BtVS during Season 2, the first season I watched all the way through, but I've always been sorry that it wasn't as pretty as Season 3 and beyond. I'm trying the first 2 seasons on Pivot, and while the screen ratio is incorrect, it is nice to be able to see things better.

Did you know that there was colorful stained glass in the ruined church where we first see the Master in "Welcome to the Hellmouth"? Neither did I!

I might also watch it streaming on Amazon.

My seasons 1 -3 are region 1, and the rest are region 2. I don't know whether there are any cuts to the shows - I hope not!

Somewhere I still have some VHS tapes with the BBC (cut for early evening viewing, or later on a late-night version without those cuts.) However, I shall be watching on Region 2 DVDs, as they are more convenient. I even have a couple of seasons in foreign languages - one French, one Italian.

I have most of the seasons on DVD but I prefer to watch by Amazon streaming, using my roku. It's just more convenient.

The only difference, I see, between the DVDs and streaming is there are no "extra features" with streaming and on streaming there is a slight pause where the commercials were placed. I didn't really notice the pause on DVDs. The reason I prefer streaming is because I like not having to fumble with the disks and different boxes.
