summary; [for rarepair_shorts] He remembered learning about constellations when he was in school. He hated Astronomy, but Professor Sinistra had never taught him to experience them like he was now. Then again, Sinistra probably wouldn't have suggested Adrian become a national felon, but an experience like this was rare.
disclaimer; No, this is definitely a figment of my state of denial. What glee.

His voice still rung with sorrow as the Aurors grabbed him firmly. Adrian felt a myriad of feelings swarm him at once. He felt that Katie had betrayed him yet again. There was no way to escape the irrevokable trouble she managed to get him into. He struggled against the grip of the Aurors who were clutching him. He knew this wasn't supposed to be the end of things. Marcus and he were supposed to get away to South America for the weekend and he was supposed to have a talk with Katie. She wasn't supposed to manipulate him. How had she been able to plan it? Had she expected this of him? He felt a little disappointed with himself for these actions.

They pulled him towards the door but he struggled more, requiring them to hold onto him tightly in order to stop him from escaping. He was going to give them hell if he had to be taken in. The door burst open suddenly and Adrian saw Marcus standing there, shouldering two bags - his and Adrian's - and holding a rolled up newspaper. He pulled out his wand quickly and flicked it lazily at the Aurors. They repelled away from Adrian instantly, losing their grip. Before they could manage to disarm him, Marcus reached a hand out and grasped Adrian's hand. As soon as he did so, it was the precise timer on the portkey they had arranged and it took them away within the moment.

When they landed on the outskirts of a rain forest, Marcus sighed as he took a few strenuous steps and fell into the tall grass atop of a hill, throwing his bag off of his shoulder as well as Adrian's. The still dark haired male joined his companion, sitting as the sun started to set. He knew that in London, it was early in the day. But they were on a completely different hemisphere in that now it was summer in Venezuela and it was also becoming nighttime. He sighed heavily and looked over at Marcus. Before he could open his mouth, his companion filled in the empty air. "I knew that bitch was going to pull something over on you. I'm sure you were intending to keep it short but I know how insistant she can be. She did spend quite a long pursuing me, as you know." Adrian nodded at this answer, finding that it was more than sufficient.

As the sun fell, Adrian and Marcus sat in silence; the adrenaline, the fight-or-flight, the hormones that they were both experiencing as a result taking a toll on them both physically and mentally. Adrian lay completely back, his hands propped up behind the back of his head. His eyes peered into the starry sky as his hair changed colors again. The disillusionment charm must have been wearing off. He thought about the things that Katie had said to him. They must have all been lies. There was no way he expected any of these things to actually be coming from a genuine place inside of her.

But now that he thought about it, she had gotten what she wanted from him. She did get just a moment with him before he left. He wondered if that was satisfactory enough for her. He looked briefly over at Marcus who was silent before looking back up at the trillions of stars in the sky.

Adrian had never been in an area where the stars were visible. He knew that cities like London often had so many lights that it counterbalanced the light of the stars but near a rain forest was not a very well lit place and seeing the stars was no problem. It was like someone had dropped dust into the black sky. He couldn't help but admire the way that they had been spread. He remembered learning about constellations when he was in school. He hated Astronomy, but Professor Sinistra had never taught him to experience them like he was now.

Then again, Sinistra probably wouldn't have suggested Adrian become a national felon, but an experience like this was rare. He didn't suggest it, but there was no denying that he was personally pleased with his choices.

Before long, the stars faded away. The sun began to escalate in the sky and he stood to his feet. He didn't remember sleeping, but he felt a renewed sense of self. Adrian nudged Marcus with his foot. His companion had slept right in the patch of grass and wasn't the least bit worried. Before his companion woke, he had to watch him carefully. Marcus looked so peaceful and at rest when he was asleep. Nothing was ever wrong. One would never know he had killed people from his face. It was odd that he was so carefree around Adrian. He wondered why he wasn't suspicious but he figured that he had gained his friend's trust, albeit extremely quickly.

He couldn't help thinking about Katie as he gave Marcus a final, warning nudge with the heel of his foot. He wondered if she could see the stars painted across the sky now that his sky was ascending into bright oranges and deep reds. Marcus snorted and Adrian was jarred out of these thoughts as he picked up his bags, knowing that Marcus would be ready to leave as soon as he woke up.
