Roller Coaster

Worried that the wee tinies would mean a boring carnival? Fear not! There was a roller coaster set up for riding!

Momoko stared at the ride with big eyes! She was never so happy to not be six yet! And she was small, too!

She totally had to ride this!

"Well," a voice came from behind her. And above her.

"What are you waiting for?"

Momoko jumped slightly and quickly turned around. "Jaime! Jaime Jaime Jaime Jaime! Hi!" He was now being hugged very tightly. And bouncily. "Look! It's a DRAGON! I'm gonna ride it!"

Which... didn't answer the question, but there you go.

Jaime couldn't help but chuckle, and hug her back. "Are you? When were you planning on doing that?"

"Uhm..." She tilted her head and looked back at the rollercoaster, trying to decide. "Since you're here, now! Now now now! Come on! You gotta watch me, okay? Promise?"

"Well, since I can't ride it myself, I think that's all I can do, isn't it?" He grinned, squatting down so that he could look her in the face.

"So it's a promise."

"And you gotta wave and cheer so I can win, okay?"

She frowned lightly. "You could leave if you really have to... If it was important." But it was a DRAGON, Jaime. so it would have to be very very super important.

"I doubt anything that important will come up," Jaime assured her, waving her toward the roller coaster.

"Okay!" Momoko's smile bounced back and she gave him another quick hug before running off to stand in line for her seat.

Well, bounce in line.

She finally got a place just behind the arm of the dragon and set the bar down in her lap. While she waited for the ride to start, she looked to make sure Jaime was still there.

He was there. And he mustered an enthusiastic wave for her, too.

Oh look! It was possible for her smile to get bigger!

And then there was a loud KERCHUNK and a small lurch and the smile was replaced by a small look of worry as the ride started.

That lasted for the first whole lap (the crying kid behind her didn't really help) but the second lap, slightly faster, had Momoko laughing into the wind and cheering. She even forgot to look for Jaime when the dragon went past!

That was okay, he was watching her anyway. With a bemused grin. It'd been a while since he'd seen her having so much fun.

When the ride was over, a very unsteady but very excited Momoko rushed back over to him. "DID YOU SEE ME! Rooooaaaaaar!" She lifted her arms and ran around in a slightly tipsy circle around Jaime. "I rode a DRAGON! It was AWESOME! ROAAR!"

Jaime laughed. "I did see!" he told her, then reached out and caught her underneath the shoulders to lift her up from behind and spin her in a quick circle before setting her down.

She squealed happily as she spun, swinging her feet out to make it even more like she was flying. As soon as he set her down, though she wobbled and had to grab hold of his leg. "Yay! What next? What next? Come on! You can play with me, right?"
