Like Karla's clothing could get any worse. She couldn't find any kids clothes in her size, so she'd just taken her clothing into the shower with her and tried to wash the worst of the mud off.
"Oh yes, oh yes! I wanna try them all! Can I?" she asked, turning her best 'please may I' face to the server.
Who evidently found it as cute as Dinah did because he said, "Sure, kid," and winked at Dinah, then handed over half-a-dozen sample spoons of ice cream right off.
"Chocolate's my favorite," Dinah admitted, then winked back at the server. "Double Dutch cone, please."
Karla nodded. Then shook her head. Then kind of shrugged. "Not alla time," she explained. "But when Daddy feels bad cause he hasn't seen me much, sometimes he takes me out to town to get ice cream at the parlor."
Karla shrugged again. "Lots. He's Mommy's Consort, an' people wanna speak to him if Mommy's not available. An' Mommy's always busy with Court, so Daddy's needed a lot. But next year, they say they'll bring me when it comes time to tour the Provinces. I'm lookin' forward to that."
"I can only do regular shields right now," Karla said, pouting a little. "Mommy an' Daddy say that if I could be invisdible, the servants would rebel."
Dinah laughed, managed to turn it into a cough, and said, "Well, fair's fair. If they can't be invisible while they work, you shouldn't get to play through all the places they gotta work in." Heh. Poor Karla's Mommy & Daddy. "But I know you'll be real good at them when you get big."

"You'll have fun then," she said, voice quieter. "And you'll learn lots of stuff." And be with her working parents, except... yeah.

"I'mma learn how to be a good Queen, like Mommy is," she said, nodding. "Maybe she'll let me watch the Court. I'll be good an' quiet, I really will!"
