It was Castiel's third sermon, and, no, he still had no idea what he was doing ( Read more... )

For those who don't want any more inexplicable rambling rants about the difference between man and angel.

I really need a better title for this thread.

Arthur would dutifully attend church, especially now that there was actually a priest of some kind to hold actual sermons. However, the angel seemed to be intent on keeping him unsettled, which was what wound him up in the pews, squinting at the man, and wondering, faintly, whether or not the Archbishop of Canterbury would approve of this.

He... had an inkling he wouldn't.

At least the church itself was still soothing?

Francine...had a moment of wondering what day it was, because honestly this sounded exactly like Lady Ghanima's class only even less unhelpful about actually telling you what to do with your life.

Which she got wasn't the point of that class, but she kind of thought it was supposed to be the point of church. She spent most of the sermon looking...well. Confused and a little lost. So no big change from that last couple of weeks, really.

At least the priest-angel-person was hot, in a kind of scratchy 50's detective way? ...Yeah, she was so going to Hell.

Well, Arthur supposed he couldn't fault her on the latter, but that was hardly the point.

About halfway into the sermon, she got a quick, sneaked, confused glance. Being a boy kind of quick, sneaked, confused glance, it was obvious to everyone ever.

Tell him how reassuring it is to discover that, in fact, nobody knows what they're doing.

Or tell him how completely not reassuring that is.

Or talk to him about anything else.

Chuck said he'd show up to a sermon, so he showed up to one. And ended up being extremely confused.

So, no different than any other time he listened to Castiel talk.

"That was, uh, interesting."

Castiel nodded. "I'm glad you thought so. Free will tends to be a very . . . complicated subject."

And Cass kinda sucked as a public speaker. Really, he should probably stick with the fire and brimstone and threatening to turn people to dust.

"Yeah, no kidding," Chuck said. If he wasn't confused about the whole thing before he walked in here, he was now. "I try not to think about it too much when I make decisions."

He didn't know which was worse; him being destined to be this much of a screw up or the fact that he constantly chose to be that way.

So, every week I'm like "oh crap, I need a sermon".

Then I just kinda babble uncertain philosophy.

This is fun!
