All around town, Friday evening

Jun 21, 2008 08:55

There were ghosts in the streets of Fandom, so many ghosts, as if the gates of death had opened and set them free.

They were pale and lost, aimlessly wandering, confused and alone.

After a handwavey dinner with Nathan, Peter left MCA to start the walk back to the dorms. He wasn't yet aware of weirdness.

The weirdness was aware of him.

A wisp of shadow followed along behind him.

Peter frowned. He had the strangest feeling like he wasn't alone. He paused and looked around.

Walking down Apocalypse Avenue idontlooktired June 21 2008, 00:49:53 UTC
Harriet had been working late, very late, and she wasn't paying a great deal of attention as she walked home, a bag of cat food under one arm.

A ghost appeared at her side, gliding along and making no sound. It looked straight ahead, almost mimicking Harriet's gait and speed.

She shivered, suddenly cold, and her eyes widened as she saw the ghost. She didn't break stride, kept walking, but she eased away slightly. "I don't have time to be haunted," she said firmly. "If you want to come back after the new term starts, I'll be able to fit you in."

The groan that the ghost made might have sounded somewhat confused but she didn't go away.

She moved closer without really moving at all. Her arm brushed Harriet's.

Outside Atlas Gym tyler_back June 21 2008, 00:53:06 UTC
Tyler stepped outside the gym after his workout, unaware of anything odd about town. Yet something made him run his hands over his arms and wish for a jacket -- he usually felt so warm after exercising, but somehow not tonight.

There was something behind Tyler. It didn't make its presence known.

The chill had to just be a breeze, and he was being a wuss to even think about it. As he started his walk home, he casually glanced around, including a quick squint over his shoulder, just to prove to himself how stupid he was being.

The ghost moved closer to Tyler now that it was noticed. It's movements were quick, soundless, almost invisible.

It was probable that because she'd been so immersed in her research that could explain why Juli hadn't yet noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Leaving the Perk, coffee in hand, she started heading back to her apartment.

There was a pale form, ghosting up beside her, absolutely silent.

Well.

That was new. Juli eyed the form for a moment. "A student?" she hazarded a guess.

Perhaps it had once been a student, or a teacher, or a wife or a husband or any number of myriad things. Now it was simply a lost soul, cold and forgotten.

But Juli was warm and the ghost drifted closer, extending one spectral hand to brush it through her.

After delivering Lucas to the clinic, Gladys started the walk back to the dorms.

She didn't notice anything odd. But then, when you were seven foot tall and made of animated clay, odd was a fairly flexible concept.

Standing somewhere in front of her was a lone, faded figure, not doing much of anything besides standing there, if that was the word for it.

Gladys noticed and stopped, her eyes flaring briefly, because she'd never seen anything like it before. "Hello."

There was no hello back, but the figure moved closer, still lacking much of a form. It seemed almost curious, having never seen anything like her before, either.
