He really needed one of those devices playing musical recordings. Hopefully there would be some place in the town that sold them. It would require investigation, but hopefully someone could help him with that.

Karal ducked his head into the church, hoping that Gabriel would be here. "Gabriel?" He had, as was usual, brought food, sandwiches and some salads, and a large bottle of iced tea. "Are you here?"

"One of my teachers had two in class, and he calmed them." Mostly by letting them bite his nose, but still. They'd stopped crying. "I could ask him, at least, but if I asked, I am sure he would agree."

Gabriel had a feeling this was risky. Still, he wasn't a coward. "Yeah, just ask him. I'm sure he'll be helpful."

"All right, I will. I do not know where he is right now, but he always comes back." He folded his hands and nodded at the bag. "If you are hungry, there are sandwiches and something called a Caesar salad. I do not know what a Caesar is, but the lady at the store assured me it was good."

"Caesar was really annoying," Gabriel replied with a shrug, "But I appreciate the salad. So Altra will stop by later?"

Karal blinked at him, then nodded, even though that hadn't made much sense. "Eventually he will find me, wherever I am, and then I will ask him," he explained. "Do you mind if he simply comes to see you?"

Not that he really appreciated being on his own with Altra, but he wasn't going to let that show. "That's fine," Gabriel replied.

Karal beamed. Perhaps Gabriel and Altra could become friends. "And hopefully you will be able to find a music player, and then this place can become more like a home for you."

Home? That sounded vaguely disturbing. Gabriel didn't mention that though. "Music makes a difference," he said.

"Is there anything else you would like?" Karal stopped, uncertain and fearing to give offence. "Anything that might remind you of home," he finished quietly, looking uncertainly at Gabriel.

Not meeting Karal's eyes, Gabriel shrugged. "Not really looking for a home. Music is just for entertainment."

He nodded once, quickly, and looked away, feeling sad. "It will be nice to have some here," he said, then smiled. "Perhaps you could find some recordings of very bad music and use it to keep people away that you don't want visiting."

That made Gabriel laugh strangely. "I'll keep that in mind, Karal," he said. The suggestion had actually surprised him.

Karal liked Gabriel, he truly did, and he worried about him, all alone in this church. But sometimes he was a little bit...not quite scary, but close, and this was one of those times.

Smiling nervously, Karal stood up. "I should leave you in peace, to eat your lunch," he said, setting the now empty coffee cup on the pew. "I will see you when I return from Los Angeles. If I see Altra, I will ask him to stop by."

"Great," Gabriel replied, raising a hand. "Make sure to return. LA is full of... temptations." He frowned a little. "If you see any angels - run." He really didn't want Michael's bunch to find Karal.

He nodded once. "I will run from any angels I see. Thank you for the advice and the coffee." He waved as he walked towards the door. "Please take care of yourself, Gabriel."
