Jackalope Campfire, Tuesday Evening

Handouts needed to be written!  Posters needed to be made!  John gathered the snack food and art supplies that he'd handwavily obtained after work, and carried it all out to the campfire.  Hopefully, people would stop by to help him, or just to pass the time while he worked.

Alec had free food radar and so was outside quite shortly. "Hey, John. Anything happen while I was gone?"

Alec shrugged. "Away. I just wanted to be where there wasn't anyone whose back was counting on me to watch it," he said, nonchalant.

"Alec, you're back!" Dawn bounced up and went to hug him hello, "Did you see your dork of a best friend yet?"

"Dawn!" He put down his bag of chips to hug her back, grinning. "Yeah, I did this morning but it hasn't been played out much yet. Why?"

"He passed out all over us," she tattled, still a little worried about that, not that she'd admit it, "and was he wearing his sling when you saw him?"

"Really?" Alec blinked. "I saw the sling and he'd kind of mentioned... But not anything about passing out."

"Yup. Buffy carried him to the clinic," Dawn reported, then continued, "Scared me pretty badly. Stupid. Making himself bait."

"So it wasn't just the dislocated shoulder, like he said?" Alec frowned, not pleased.

"I think that's what made him pass out?" Dawn wasn't quite sure about that, "The pain, I mean? But he got thrown into a tree by a crazy demon-axe-murderer thing. Why? What did he tell you?"

"He told me about the crazy spirit thing, and dislocating his shoulder, but I didn't know he passed out from it," Alec explained. "I guess it might be painful enough to pass out from though, for a human."

"I haven't had it happen to me, but yeah, I'd think so." She considered him, "You don't pass out from pain like that?"

"My pain tolerance is pretty high," he said, shrugging. "Goes along with the toughness and stamina, I guess."

"Lucky," Dawn told him. "You're gonna be great at demon hunting."

"Might as well put all those skills Manticore gave me to good use," Alec agreed, smirking.

"If Buffy ever writes me back, wanna come to Scotland and take on some real vampires?" She offered. "You could think of it as practice."

"Definitely," Alec said, eyes widening. "That'd be kind of awesome, actually. I've never been to Scotland."
