Ned lugged a few heavy bags into the Home Ec classroom in preparation for today's Cooking Club. He really should have planned better and recruited someone to help carry the bags but what's done was done. He was here now and he could go about setting things up.
"Um, hey," he greeted once everyone had made it into the classroom. "Hope everyone had a good break week. Mine wasn't bad. So, today, we're going to carve pumpkins in preparation for Halloween and the fall season. What does this have to do with cooking? Well, the innards of a pumpkin can be used to make
pumpkin pie. Yeah, really. Pumpkin pie doesn't just come in a can. We won't be doing that today since it's a little intensive but sometime in the future we'll make some kind of pie. I just wanted to relate the carving of pumpkins to cooking."
With that said, Ned rolled out several pumpkins for people to carve.
"Please be careful with the knives but don't worry about getting dirty with this. It's more fun that way."
He grinned and started going to work digging out the contents of his own pumpkin.
[Wait for zee OCD is up!]
