Defying Gravity - 1x10 - Deja Vu

Oct 06, 2009 11:53

Donner's V.O. is lame. Plz to stop now?

Mmmm, tank top on Jen. Donner who?

And a pretty close-up of Zoe there, too.

Yo! Donner! Get out of Nadia's vid!

Suck protection! They don't wanna be safe! They wanna be informed!

"They're trained to keep their emotions in check."
Yeah... because that has worked *so* well for them so far...

Go Ted! About time someone yelled at Donner.

Man, Sharon is so pretty. (And she's gonna be on the next season of Exes & Ohs... I hope she makes out with lots of pretty girls!)

Ooooh, Tara the news anchor is really pretty... I loved her on Blood Ties (it is the same woman, right? - see comparative screen cap at the end)

"I'm Canadian"
"Married to an American."
"Which makes him Canadian."
Jen FOR THE WIN!!! That's like the first genuinely funny line on this show.

Ooooh, who's stealing the dental floss?

I really really hate that reporter guy. There are few personality traits I hate more than people who think they're entitled to things that are none of their business.

"Don't know, or don't want to know?" I agree, Nadia.

Go Ted! More with the yelling at Donner. He's a pain...

Awww, pretty ring! She has a point, though, it doesn't make it right. He has a point, though, he did what he had to do.

"In a weird, churchy kinda way..." Hee!

"Oh, and, by the way, there's an alien thingy on board, and guess what? It has friends."
Snark.

Love love love love Jen and Zoe talking. Even if they're fighting there's a certain amount of familiarity between them, and I love that. A whole lot.

And really love that Jen finally told Zoe she can't see it.

Blerg, reporter.

"Again with the me." "How is it that me not seeing Beta is suddenly about you walking on Venus?"
Jen, sweetheart, you're the one who asked her why she was so positive. You're being just a tad unfair, there.

Mmmm, Jen/Claire. "I know Jen. She'll come around."
Really, telling someone's *husband* that you know their wife better than they do can be used for pretty significant subtext.

I love how they made a 3-hour rule when they got married. Like, they must have already done a whole lot of fighting to sit down and make a rule like that. And really? Yelling and slamming doors? Hee!

Man, that music they're playing during the voting really sucks.

Why are we seeing who they're voting for? I mean, we could guess, but we didn't really need to know... Ooh, the republicans have a lady candidate! (Dang, I wanna root for the woman, but I can't in good conscience root for a republican...)

"The right way, or your way."
Way to go Zoe, I've wanted to ask Donner that forever.

Hmm, it would have been interesting to see Zoe and Donner talk about her hallucination. (But she hasn't had it lately, has she? She's just heard the whale music.)

Ooooooh.
"Then I'll be wrong."
I *love* that delivery. Yeah, maybe I'll be wrong, and I'll die out there on Venus, but dude. There's nothing you can do about it, and it's not your place to protect me.

What? Jen took the straws? Hee!!

Oooh, Rollie, smart move there, calling her from AJ's computer... not so much. She would have picked up if you called her from your own.

"I'm so sick of hearing that from everyone! What have I been chosen for?! Am I up here to be some sort of sacrificial lamb?"
Awww, Jen...

Rollie vs. Universe = Unfair Match
Yeah, Jen, I'll have to agree with him on that. Still, they both make good points.

Love love love their conversation, though. I love that Jen finally told him, too, because even if she's not quite ready to accept Zoe's or Rollie's support or comfort or whatever, at least she's talking about it. I have to go with Rollie/Jen for favourite canon ship. I love that they can sort of communicate even when they do it badly.

Donner/Zoe on Mars? Blergh.

Heh! Nadia/Wass! Why does she need to know so badly?
"Not good enough."

Yeah, I've wondered why Nadia is so reluctant too.

Donner/Ted and vodka! Yay!

Man, yeah, save Paula from herself!

Why to set it up. "Who is going to leak it first?"
Isn't that the situation where you usually hold a press conference and tell people yourself to avoid it getting leaked?

So when Beta likes her it's God, and then when it doesn't it's Satan. Yeah, consistency win there, Paula...

Madam President! Yay! Shame it's a republican...

Nadia is back! Yay!

Whoa? Rollie hitting some poor girl on a bike? WTF? (They better have a good reason for this...) (Wait, was he supposed to have come back and because he hit the girl it went longer than the 3 hours? Because I thought they sort of worked that out the last time they talked.

"The sky is red, Donner."

Eh, so-so episode. LOVED that there was a whole lot of Jen in this episode. Pissed off, anxious, on the verge of breaking down. Lots of Jen. And lots of Jen talking to people I like seeing her talk to. I am, again, so so grateful to have an actress-crush on someone who actually knows how to act. Someone who can be crying or on the verge of, and you can stick a camera in her face and it doesn't make me cringe and wanna cover my eyes. Because I've been there, and it's not pretty. Go Christina!

Don't care much about Paula's storyline, to be honest. I would have much rather seen her and Zoe land on Venus than Zoe and Donner, but that has way more to do with me disliking Donner than caring about her.

Paula's really the loosest cannon in this group. I mean, Jen is upset and pissed off, but I can't see her broadcasting that in a live telecast. Paula right now feels like she might flip out and open the hatches or something. Jen at least only cut down her tomatoes, and that was methodical and didn't endanger anyone.

Mmm, tank top.

Aww, Sharon...

Waaah!

Really? That's your best suggestion?

Pretty Lara the News Anchor (I think that was her name?)

It is the same lady, right? Her character isn't listed for the DG episode, and there's nothing in Anna Galvin's IMDb, but it looks a whole lot like the same lady. They had quite a bit of chemistry on Blood Ties.

Hee! Zoe was very cute with the flag in her teeth.

Aww, Jen...

Poor thing...

And just for old times sake, a cap of Jen and Sharon as Vicki and Helen on Blood Ties. They had at least two really lovely scenes, but they were all shot in single-person close-ups, so there are no good shots of them together...

(*sigh* I only put in the DVD to get the screen cap, but damn, it makes me *so sad* that Blood Ties was cancelled. I mean, I enjoy Defying Gravity, surely, but then I watch a few scenes of Blood Ties, and I'm reminded of what it feels like to watch a show and truly *love* it because it's a good show, and not because you're making yourself watch it because it has some pretty ladies you like, some characters you've made yourself care about, and a moderately intriguing mystery. Sadness! Why was BT cancelled?!)
