Alright, before we start I wanted to announce my official return to vam fanfic. It's been a while, ladies, a see a whole new list of faces around here I doubt most of you remember me or my story. I'm an old timer around here but my inspiration dried up for about a year. Now, in an effort to get things rolling on my original novel I've decided to practice writing by finishing up this story. If any of you do remember this little ficcy, don't worry, I'm not full of false-promises... I know it's been a year since my last update but I intend to finish this thing before Christmas with at least weekly updates. So, hold on to your hats, this plot is about to get outta control.

The early morning had already began to stifle as the simmering sun rose higher and higher above the buildings. Bam had been awake all night, his mind racing. He sat in his mother’s kitchen, exhaustion pulling at the corners of his eyes as he tried desperately to ward off sleep. In his hand he clutched a cup of coffee, sipping from it every now and then as he waited.

He looked out, beyond the veranda to the roses his mother grew. Always red, they were his father’s favorite and even though she knew that Phil couldn’t make it out of bed let alone down to the gardens, still she tended them every morning without fail. As he watched her his heart fell, knowing that it was silly things like flowers and keeping his boys well fed that kept her going. He let his eyes soften momentarily before shaking his head and staring back down into his cup of coffee. There was no time to think of such things.

He tugged slightly at the tie around his neck, feeling choked and uncomfortable. He felt like he couldn’t take a god damn breath in this town anymore. This city that was supposed to be his. He felt more like a prisoner to its whims than a king among men.

“Bam?” Startled out of his thoughts he turned suddenly to find Ryan standing in the kitchen doorway. He relaxed slightly.

“Jeez Dunn, gave me a fright.” His friend smiled apologetically but a smirk lay hidden in the corner of his lips.

“Bam Margera, afraid? My oh my, now this is a surprise.” Bam let an easy smile grace his lips as stood to meet his friend, lightly punching his shoulder.

“You startled me is all, jeez can’t a guy get a break around here?”

Ryan laughed. “Not when you run a family like yours, Bam Bam.”

Bam’s smile faded as he heaved a sigh. “Right, forgot. Which reminds me, what ‘cha got for me?”

Ryan moved to sit at the table but hesitated as he approached the chair, looking up at Bam for permission. Annoyance flickered in Bam’s eyes as he read his friend’s silent request. “Oh come on, Dunn. You practically grew up here, sit wherever the fuck you want.”

Ryan blushed slightly. “Right, sorry... I guess we all get caught up in this game sometimes.”

Bam sighed but didn’t respond. “You want some coffee?”

“Nah man, I’m good.”

Bam sat across from his friend and stared moodily into his cup. “What’s the word on Novak?”

Dunn sighed and ran a hand through his growing orange mane. “He’s been in contact with the Eyes but they don’t trust him. It seems we’re not the only ones hesitant to start running heroin. We’ll continue to monitor him but it’s starting to get risky, we’ll have to lay low for a while, he’s already suspicious. He knows you too well to think that you’d let him go just like that.”

Bam nodded gravely. “He knows too much is what he knows.”

“Look, Bam... there’s something else. Novak is the least of our worries. When Dico followed him, he... he saw new faces. The Eyes are growing in numbers and it seems that they’re importing straight from Finland.”

Bam rubbed at his eyes as he let Dunn’s words wash over him. “What do we know?”

Ryan sighed. “Not much, I’m afraid. A family moved to town a few days ago, name of Valo. Apparently this guy Kari used to be some sort of hotshot of the old families that lived there ten years back before they had to flee the country. Although they had been rivals with the Eyes back in Finland they’re testing out an alliance here. If this becomes permanent, we could have a real mess on our hands.”

Tension pulled at Bam’s shoulders as he tried to think. “Novak doesn’t know as much as he thinks. The Eyes will be sorely disappointed at the lack of information that they don’t already know. However, this new family, how many are we talking?”

“Two for now, Kari and his son Vil’.”

“Vil-uh.” Bam corrected off-handedly.

Ryan stared in shock. “Excuse me? You know this guy?”

Bam sputtered. “No, of course not! I mean, yeah kinda but-”

“Bam, as far as we’re concerned this guy is dangerous and threatens all we’ve worked for! I can’t believe you! He’s the enemy! How long have you known?!”

Bam slammed his fist onto the table. “Do not talk to me that way Ryan, you forget your place.” Ryan recoiled at the outburst even though anger still burned in his eyes. Bam sighed tiredly, his shoulders sinking under the weight of his exhaustion.

“Look, I’m sorry. I just. I didn’t know who he was, I found him one night, he was lost and this guy was giving him trouble. He... he lives in Jared’s old house. I walked him home. That’s it.”

Ryan raised an eyebrow. “That’s it?”

“Yeah Dunn, promise.”

Ryan sighed in relief but his eyes betrayed his concerns. “What do we do now, boss?”

Bam’s expression set into emotionless determination. “We do what we have to, Dunn. Let’s pay our new friends a visit, shall we?”

Ryan smiled as he already started to feel the adrenaline begin to prepare his muscles for the work that lay ahead. “What’s the plan?”

Bam felt his lips mirror Ryan’s. “Tonight. C’mon, we’ve got work to do.”

Ville stared into the darkness, letting the moonlight wash him in silver and blue as he reclined against the marble staircase that lead to the back gardens. This place had become a haven for his reveries, tempting him and leading him down into a world that he knew could never exist outside of the gates.

A light came on in the house and Ville shrunk from it’s harsh stare as it cast it’s warmth across his shoulders. He sneered as he stood, loping quietly down the stairs and beyond the hedges that hid a small bubbling fountain. He pulled a cigarette from the slim metal casing kept inside the breast pocket of his jacket. Flicking the silver zippo to life he drew a breath, letting the smoke smolder in his lungs.

“Those things’ll kill ya, y’know.” The Finn jumped despite himself, wheeling around to face the intruder, hand already reaching for the knife clipped to his belt. The shadow held up his hands, showing he intended no harm.

“Whoa, Ville. Chill man, it’s just me.” The shadow said. Ville blinked.

“Bam?” He questioned, his hand still holding the blade out defensively. Bam stepped forward into the moonlight, his smirk fully intact despite Ville’s stance.

“How ‘bout you put that thing away before you get yourself in trouble?” He slid his jacket open, allowing the cold metal of the gun to flash in the pale light. A snarl resonated in Ville’s throat but he sheathed the knife, knowing well enough when he was outdone. A dangerous glint fell upon the American’s smirk. “There’s a good boy. Y’know, you should really be more careful who you threaten in this city.”

Ville scoffed. “You’re the one trespassing. Who slinks around in the middle of the night like a stray dog?” The laughter in the American’s eyes turned mocking as his crystal stare hardened.

“You’re the foreigner trying to encroach upon an established family’s territory. I wouldn’t be so hasty to judge.” Fiery emeralds grew wide at the statement. Even his mind had begun to stutter.

“H-how did-?” Bam barked a cold laugh.

“This city belongs to me. Do you really think that anything occurs here without my knowledge or permission?” The American let his stance become easy as pride washed over his body in subtle waves. “Or did you think I’m really thick enough to meet someone from the same homeland as my rivals and think his intentions are innocent?” Ville flicked a glance back towards the house but the light had been extinguished. Bam followed his gaze.

“You could cry out if you wanted. I’m sure daddy would run in and save you from the big scary American, but I would advise against it. Things aren’t always as they appear.” The rustle in the hedges lining the outer wall was not missed by Ville’s ears, now heightened from the adrenaline coursing through him.

“You’re not alone.” Ville’s voice had become quiet and subdued, it took all he had to keep it from shaking. Bam smirked again.

“Again you take me for a fool.” He stepped closer to the Finn. Ville could feel the heat resonating from the American, despite the chill of the night. “Now, let’s get some things straight, shall we?” Ville offered a curt nod.

“I know who you are, where you are from, and why you are here. I know you are forming an alliance with the Eyes but I’m going to pretend that you didn’t know that it is my family that runs things around here. Now if you do what I say then I see us having no future quarrels. Your choices are as follow, you either pack up your shit and leave town or ally with us. We will be watching and we will be in touch.”

Ville couldn’t help but shiver as Bam stepped even closer, his lips almost touching the Finn’s ear as he whispered his final message. “One week.” He breathed. Then there was nothing but darkness and moonlight as Ville found himself once again alone in the garden.

“Father!” He was running up to the house with all the urgency his asthma inflicted lungs could allow. “Father!” Room to room, his legs carried him.

“Father!”

“Ville, stop that incessant shouting before you wake the damned! What is it? What’s wrong?” His father stood in the doorway of his study, eyes wide and questioning.

“The Margeras.” Ville gasped. “Here. They were here.”
