I thought Lollie the Little Mermaid girl was a great singer for her age and given the occasion! And I had tears in my eye when Jodie surprised her.

Ben Adams was in rubbish boyband A1 a few years back, but was recently in Celebrity Big Brother. Lovely bloke, but only appears to have one outfit.

When the professionals did the fire twirling routine, I was slightly concerned, sitting in the very front row, but thought the BBC wouldn't want anymore dramas and it must be perfectly safe. But when John and Matt took to the very front of the stage, they swapped the lady sitting next-but-one to me with a man with a fire extinguisher. And I must admit to being a little worried when John dropped his baton! At least it warmed up the cold studio though. Matt's charity was Beating Bowel cancer.

I also thought it was a little unfair that these people were picked for the pilot and may not get their moment of fame! Perhaps they'll get another go later in the series.

They will have been required to have the extinguisher there from a health and safety laws point of view - purely precautionary.

Sadly I disagree about the girl, she couldn't hold a note, but that wasn't really what it was about so it hardly mattered. She did very well performing in front of an audience anyway.

Not sure I would have been that thrilled to have been front row when JB dropped the baton it has to be said!

Thanks for the explanation re Ben Adams - I'd never heard of him.

Wow, you have a good memory!

I loved the fire stuff - it'd be such a shame if that didn't make it to tv. The world needs to see that, because John was incredible.

The fire routine was massively impressive - it seems to me to be a huge waste of John and Matt's time if it doesn't get aired at some point.

The mermaid girl was totally tuneless wasn't she but I guess that wasn't really what it was about...and the bits I saw of the fire thing (between trying to not smell the smoke and not actually see the fire were impressive.)

We definitely had the best seats in the house where we were too...any further forward and we wouldn't have seen all the inbetween stuff.

It was a real shame for you that the Stage Fright section featured fire because it was just amazing - I'm incredibly impressed that he did that.

I wasn't overwhelmed with Mermaid Girl but then it's not about that at all.

And yeah - we had cracking seats - any further forward and we would have missed a lot.

In a way it was like a musical theatre production though(I almost got my Barnum!!)

Its the best thing I've seen him do in a long time (probably since NT Anything Goes actually - apart from concerts / singing festivals etc)

I thought if Barnum too when he was doing the fire juggling thingy. This way he gets to challenge himself and do new things which he loves but within a tv schedule so he's still got plenty of time for Scott and friends/family whcih I guess he wouldn't have if he were working nights in a play and Scott working during the day.

But yes short of the actual concerts definitely the best thing I've seen him in. Jack is Jack but as a vehicle for John's talents it was sbolutely perfect.

I don't see the Pilot being aired in full as some bits won't quite work (whilst Big John's act with La Cage was funny it was Valentine's Day specific) and the righting a performance wrong bit wasn't really all that exciting. But it would be a real shame if they didn't manage to include the fire routine along with the dreams for the little girl and the policeman in one of the shows as they really deserve to be on tv.
