[If anyone was to ask Katara how she felt right now, she would probably use the word awkward. Things have always been awkward between her and Zuko, given certain events that have happened, and the history of their respective tribes.
But things have a funny way of changing, and well, they've definitely changed now. Katara sees herself as being in Zuko's debt, after the last event.]
Um... Hi, Zuko.
I'm fine. So is Sokka.
[Well, all right, she's quite a bit shook up, but otherwise fine, thanks to him.]
Action - yeah I have no idea how this is supposed to work XDtobendthetideNovember 2 2011, 20:50:33 UTC
[Using her Waterbending, Katara pulls out some of the water she's been keeping in a little jar tied to her waist, and she kind of 'floats' it over Zuko, hoping that it'll make him feel a little better, at least.]
I know you said you're not hurt, but maybe you'll feel a little stronger now.
[So wait..she hasn't forgiven him? His expression drops, but he tries not to show his disappointment too much. What else can he do? He laid down his life for them.]
[It's complicated.. She wants to forgive him but people don't just forget things in an instant. She wants him to know that. She hesitates for a second, then takes one of his hands.]
I don't hate you, Zuko. I just can't forgive you, at least not right now. But you did that for me and Sokka, so I think I can trust you, at least a little.
[His eyes widen when she takes his hand. He looks up at her thoughtfully, nervously, fumbling a bit over his words. At least she doesn't hate him. He can't help but feel his cheeks tinge a tiny bit pink. This is super awkward.]
I know. It's just..uh
I don't know what else I can do to convince you that I'm not the person I was before.
[Zuko thinks about how his Uncle would handle this. His eyes involuntarily shift to the doll he inherited from the past event. Eventually he notices what he's doing and looks away.]
[The part that's complicated is that, deep down, Katara knows Zuko's someone who can be trusted. But she has a lot of baggage, because of the Fire Nation, so it's not at all easy for her.]
I hope you understand why I can't forgive you right now.

[This seems awkward to her, but it's the only thing she can think of to help, even if it won't do any good...]
Um, do you mind lying down?

[He does feel better. Zuko actually has color in his face now. He sits up when she's done, less slouched than before, but still a little weary.]
I do.
Thank you.

I'm glad. And I guess I should be thanking you.

You're welcome. I just did..what I had to.
[Zuko pauses.]
Uh..You said you wanted to talk to me about something..?

[Katara pauses too.] Um, yes, I did... I haven't been very nice to you, and well... I'm sorry for that.

[The nervousness comes back, as does the guilt. He talks with his hands and slouches with a sigh when he's finished.]
..I've made big mistakes.
[He mutters.]

I don't know how long it's going to take, but I'm going to work on it, okay?
[She smiles, hoping to reassure him.]

Yeah..okay.

She squeezes his hand just a bit.]
I know, and I'm sorry. But you did that for us, so it's not like I hate you still.
[How else can she explain what she's feeling?]
My mother was killed by someone from the Fire Nation. I know you're not bad like them, but it's still hard for me to get over that.

I'm sorry about your mother.
[He looks up at her sadly and slouches under the weight of the memories her words cause.]
The Fire Nation tore apart my family, too. I wasn't lying in Ba-Sing-Se..

I just need to take things slowly.
