I can't stress how important it is to build a network of people to talk to when doing a creative thesis. Speaking with my PhD supervisors yesterday was both reassuring and terrifying. They seem to have such high expectations of me and my work. What would you do if you didn't have to work?
This is a question very few of us get to explore in our lives (except in imagination), but what I've noticed is that the answers vary from the mundane get fit, travel, buy lots of stuff etc. to the more interesting it would give me time to work on all the projects I want to do ( Read more... ) -
Just got my manuscript assessment back...
I sent my novel off to an external manuscript assessors. Yikes!
Although not completely a lost cause, I have some serious work to do to get it up to standard.
- I need to focus on making my bad guys more 3 dimensional and powerful.
- I need to reduce the scope of the project so that the storyline can be condensed.

New ways of thinking about creative writing/writers...
Paul Dawson in Towards a New Poetics in Creative Writing Pedagogy in TEXT suggests that a new language or theoretical framework is needed to discuss creative writing not only to distinguish it from traditional structural discourses of creative writing but from literature studies in the New Humanities.
