i think largely this ship was the reason i stopped watching this show, that and my inability to care about serena anymore idek
sometimes i contemplate watching the rest of the series for the blair/dan of it all but i doubt i'll ever be strong enough for that bullshit (which they also ruined with the FINALE REVEAL???)

Urgh yes, I normally love dysfuctional couples *points to icon*, but the way the GG writers used that ship to have Blair be treated like dirt and go crawling back to Chuck over and over again only to be told that she's not enough, it was sickening to watch. At a certain point I honestly thought that the writers were deliberately writing them as the worst ship ever and shining a light on what a terrible person Chuck was for Blair, I genuinally believed that they wanted us to root for Dan/Blair as endgame after all of the build-up to Blair wanting to be happy and wanting pure and simple love over ~epic love~. Instead the show would give me whiplash with the way they jumped from Blair pouring her heart out to Dan about how she lost herself for so long after Chuck sold her to his uncle for his hotel, and yet 3/4 episodes later she would be grovelling at Chuck's feet on the top of that very hotel
At a certain point I honestly thought that the writers were deliberately writing them as the worst ship ever and shining a light on what a terrible person Chuck was for Blair, I genuinally believed that they wanted us to root for Dan/Blair as endgame after all of the build-up to Blair wanting to be happy and wanting pure and simple love over ~epic love~. And yeah, the writing choices with that triangle were... baffling. It's actually like a horror story cautionary tale of abuse in romantic dynamics (with Blair as the exemplary abuse victim). Only... framed as epic romance. LMAO. IDEK. I laugh so I don't vomit.
