Contextually I think most people I've seen have used it for headshaking, but some on tumblr definitely could be so much hate. Because: tumblr.

LOL I ALWAYS thought it was "so much hate," was genuinely surprised when one of my friends told me she meant "shaking my head" every time she used it--I like "so much hate" a lot better though because it seems to be an appropriate response for most of the things I read on ONTD posts :p
