Today I submitted my final timecard to the Consulting Company.

Tomorrow I will go to my new job, which is in the same building, at same desk. On the same project.  After several inquiries, much discussion and a grueling application/interview/offer/confirmation process, I have converted to being an employee of my erstwhile client, Big Happy Fun ( Read more... )

New hair[0] and a Real Job (tm). You're practically becoming mainstream!

I hope it goes better for you than my attempt at becoming a Regular Employee (tm) at one of my clients. (That... didn't go well.)

Thanks! Yes, it wasn't red before (and is much less red now than when the photo was taken). I believe that being Regular Employee (tm) will work out okay. We'll know more as we move forward in Time.

Don't worry; even with all this, I'm still very, very unique.

Just in case you're feeling nervous, remember that people ALWAYS want The New Guy to feel welcome and stick around. Because hiring people SUCKS and they don't want to do it again. So just hang in there, and soon you'll be feeling like an old pro!

I try! I trust the First Day went well? No one tried to steal his lunch money?

Yes, everyone was very nice. I figured if I really mucked anything up, I could get out of trouble by saying that it was my first day. Fortunately, I didn't have to test this...

Congratulations! I have never known anyone with such consistently enviable Employment Karma! It's like having Doris Day Parking and Good Hair Days ALL THE TIME!

Presumably there's a portrait of you somewhere, and it's... um... unemployed. Or working in a gas station in Kansas.

Yeah, I'm not sure how the Dorian Gray portrait would function is this case, but if it's working at a gas station in Kansas, I certainly feel sorry for it. :-(

Congrats! So exciting to start out in new adventures.

That was a very long test run of them checking you out as a consultant before brining you into the fold.

Thanks! And I like the thought of it being a 6-1/2-year audition!
