A [short] reversal of my decision

Have to interrupt my silence, this is too irritating to pass.


A loud noise had disturbed my peaceful Saturday breakfast at 10am. There were shouts and drumbeat on the street, half-a-block away. From my window I could only see a parked patrol car, so I grabbed my camera and went outside to find out.

G, I didn't intend to return here at all. It's just my new place isn't ready yet, and I was too ruffled to let this pass unnoted.

Slam-lord is an indication of my weird foreign ways of communicating in English.

Although I could add another paragraph on contents of the paper I got handed by a fur-wearing activist, pertaining to his character and supposed crimes he committed up in the Bronx, it's too slimy to write about.

Fountainhead is well worth your effort.

The Brooklyn Paper is good for lining the bottom of bird or snake cages, but not much else. The editors of that rag are just as adamently opposed to the impending-for what seems like the last decade-construction of an Ikea in Red Hook.

Hi, sorry for intrusion

I used to live not far from there and remember demonstrations in front of the Green Church. I don't think any other neighborehood of Brooklyn has so many churches! I do support development, but what's disturbing is that most probably they would build some disgusting crapdominimum with luxury window A/C units.

By the way, if you are in the area, what's happening with the three old collonial houses on 74th street between 3rd and 4th, just accross from the school yard? Last winter I remember seeing "poison" signs on all three of them. Then there was a short article on some of the hood's blogs saying that the owner claims to restore them. And then we moved, and I suspect that the restoration work might have been extended into a demolition and a full-scale construction.

Bay Ridge is so conservative. People there don't like changes. They like their churches, humangous houses with nickel railings and botanica exhibitions outside. I expect there will be more marching and yelling. Be strong!

Thanks for the links. I'm not against preservation, but within common sense. Not all old buildings are worth preserving; the old Victorians pictured @ the link are definitely nothing special; besides, the claim that 3-family condos will not sell is ridiculous: there is always seller's market in Bay Ridge exactly because inventory is low and demand - high.
Also, there was this quote by Preservation Society Chair, claiming the "historical low-rise quality of Bay Ridge": not really. Look at the Shore Road and all the adjacent avenues and crossing streets, there are so many hirise coops and apartment buildings there (relatively hi-rise, about 10-15 floors high) built in 1920's to 1950's. I'm sure at the time of construction they replaced more Victorian horror - and residents are better off now.

Я прошу прощения за то, что я не помещаю этот комментарий там, где он был бы уместен и не был бы "OFF", но я давно уже вышел из общения с user(ом) "Wall4", а когда я вывожу себя из общения с кем бы то ни было, я совершенно обрываю все формы общения с ними - в их Журналах или в чужих. Я не собираюсь комментировать сказанное им, кроме, как сказать, что сказанное им недостойно никого, называющего себя мужчиной, независимо от чего бы то ни было; это просто низко и недостойно. И хотя мне вполне импонирует и то, что Вы сказали и как Вы это сказали, я вынужден заметить, что Ваш обмен комментариями, как с "автором", так и его "протагонистами" нарушает известное "Не мечи бисер перед свиньями". Ещё раз, извините.:)

Yes, I can easily relate to the same notion and I know how difficult is it sometimes to resist the temptation to speak your mind, especially in situations like this one. But usually I'm listening to my inner voice, which tells me that it's not worth it to talk to people with such state of mind and who are capable to express their opinions in such unintelligent and a degrading way.
Nothing to be sorry about.:))I'm at work too and I can easily understand that not all computers where "taught" to speak Russian in the same way, as I did with mine.:))

Всегда делаю ту же ошибку: всё кажется - может я недостаточно понятно обьясняю. Вот зайду с другой стороны, приведу пример близкий собеседнику, и дойдёт - ан нет. Никогда не доходит.
