It's been awhile, and one of my friends who is new to LJ was asking questions about how to post fic, so I think it's time I updated and linked to this: Fandom Netiquette for Newbies. Because fandom can be difficult to navigate and can be downright intimidating for a newcomer...especially if they unknowingly make a "mistake" and suddenly people

good to see you again! Tin Man seems to have really taken off, I've been seeing lots of icons and stuff of it. I didn't see it, but I like Zooey Deschanel (she of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy semi-fame).

And I'm definitely going to have to check out that PotC rec. It's awfully hard work wading through ffnet trying to find the good stuff!

I just saw the new Lost trailer last night, and my Lost excitement is starting to take over. Do you know of anywhere I might be able to find some recs in that fandom?

Try jenthegypsy--I know she writes Lostfic (she's been trying to get me hooked, although I haven't been, yet.) evilmissbecky also writes for Lost, I believe. *pimps her friends*

Zooey is really adorable--although she does kind of look perpetually startled. :-)

I shall have to check out this Tin Man thing (by rather nefarious means, probably), it sounds rather fun, and having seen and loved Wicked during the summer the thought of more messing-about-with-Oz stories is quite exciting.

I've been an Oz fan for a long, long time (I read a lot of the weirder, more obscure sequels when I was a kid...L. Frank Baum was kind of a crack fiend) and love Wicked the novel (haven't seen the show, want to very badly.) I like the messing-about too because...transformative storytelling! It's what we do!

Matriarchal society???? Unheard of! Neal McDonough....brings me back to Boomtown. ::sigh:: One of those one season NBC tragedies. I know how you feel about losing the PotC steam. My plot bunnies fizzled with the second movie. I've begun to fixate on other things, thankfully, but college has made it virtually impossible to even generate any story ideas! Thanks for the fics recs!

Finals for me has had the unanticipated effect of giving all kinds of story ideas. It's a bit annoying, if nice to be excited again about fandom.

Hello there! I'm a fellow Tin Man fan, and I love your list. The "matriarchal society" point is most excellent! :-)

The fact that Tin Man's O.Z. is matriarchal is definitely in the tradition of L. Frank Baum's Oz, which had a lot of girl queens.
