Frustrating...

     That would sum up the day in one word.  For almost a year now, my NAS drive has been down.  It's one of the 2-bay units from Linksys, which I was really happy with when I first got it.  It was configured as a RAID array, so that the two 1-Terabyte drives were mirror images of each other, protecting me from data loss (so I thought.)  It took a ( Read more... )

Well, it rebuilt itself - but there was nothing actually there. I guess it just copies itself verbatim, regardless of whether there's actually any data or not.

So, I've got a totally blank drive RAID-1 array, but at least I still have the good original drive. I will have to get that USB-to-IDE/SATA adapter, and hope that I can pull all the data from the original that way. I suspect this is why Linksys stopped making these NAS units. It's a shame, because the user / shared-folder interface was wonderfully easy to use, but without the ability to automatically rebuild itself, it's kinda useless. :/

Maybe you can find a version of Android that'll run on the machine? ^-^
