5.18, at last! The big 1-0-0! It took me THREE HOURS to watch this episode because it was loading like this is 1996 and my computer crashed once and my browser crashed *five times*, but I WATCHED IT.

OMG. . . the Cas/Dean fight scene? Yeah. All I could think of was that BDSM fic you linked to and was torn between mortification (because I didn't like the fic; it was well written but Dean just doesn't work for me as gay because way too much of his character is based on his womanizing) and breathless anticipation.

I was all "NOW DEAN WILL NUZZLE CAS' CROTCH AND OHGOD I WILL EXPLODE INTO SQUEE AND HAWTNESS AND AWKWARDNESS BUT IT WILL BE MARVELOUS".

HA HA ME TOO! I didn't know you read that fic; I linked to it fully expecting no one to read it. SO CLOSE TO CANON NOW, LOL.

THEY CUT OUT THE CROTCH-NUZZLING FOR TIME, BB, IT'LL BE IN THE BONUS FEATURES ON THE DVD

As for Dean's sexuality, it's kind of a fandom hand-waving thing for me. I think it's possible to read him as bi in canon; he's definitely sexually adventurous (pink panties, anyone?), he has man-crush on Dr. Sexy, the whole thing with the siren in S4 (little brother-ly? Not so much), all the eyesex with Cas -- I think it's within canon to say he might have played the other side of the fence once or twice. I have more of a problem with Cas being into it that Dean -- Cas is pretty much canonically asexual. But IDK, I guess I treat most slash fic as slightly AU, i.e. "this fic is set in a universe where Dean does guys", which works for me so I can read mountains of Dean/Cas.

I kind of feel the opposite. I can see Cas as being kind of bi/pan-sexual because of the disconnect between his asexual tendencies as an angel and the very human body he's inhabiting, which is clearly his weak spot. I do, for instance, have a dazzling little fic brewing in regards to Cas learning all the nifty little thrills of his human body, and it would work with a man or a woman as his teacher.

But Dean? Not so much. I think he's actually very open in terms of his sexuality, in part because he's so secure in it. I can't see him as gay, though he's definitely game for a lot, even stuff that might be a little gender-bending but, again, I think this is because he's so sure of himself as a straight man.

I could see them that way too, but that won't let me read the fic I like so I'll stick to my version. :D

That's one thing I love about fandom, actually -- how different people can see the same characters so differently. We pick up these multifaceted characters from the screen, and turn them to show different facets at a time, like this fic is woobie!Cas but this fic is BAMF!Cas, but they're both canon.

Dean and Cas are still totally doing it though. ;)
