Gym - Day 22 - (Open / Unfinished)

Nov 13, 2009 12:32

It had been five days since the blow up in medical. So far nothing had been passed down that she was aware of, noone had even really talked to her about what had happened. In a way Tonia was happy about it. The Yeoman could count on one hand the number of times she had ever lost her temper and each time being something she never liked to remember ( Read more... )

Given how busy everyone currently was, she'd been expecting the gym to be empty. As such it was a surprise to come out of the changing rooms to hear the distinctive sound of someone laying into a punching bag.

She recognised the other woman right away of course; one of the key players in the already-infamous sickbay incident. Tonia Barrows.

For a while she simply stood and watched, observing her techinique. Hmm...not bad. Of course it was difficult to judge anyone's skill this way - a punching bag wasn't difficult to outwit. But for the time being she simply leaned against the wall and watched.

It was one wrong step, one tiny shift of weight to her left knee that had the woman hop/stepping away from the bag by a few inches. A few muttered curses managed to slip from her lips as she reached up tearing the headphones out of her ears. Game, set, match. Bag won this round.. for now.

Green eyes barely managed to catch sight of someone out of the corner of her eye that instant had a little bit of dread resting in the bottom of her stomach. Commander Creed had a reputation as being the toughest woman on the ship. Tonia wouldn't dare cross her and test the chance of not being able to breath again. A moments hesitation passed as she watched the woman trying to cover it up with catching her breath. "Commander."

"Yeoman Barrows," she responded, watching her with an appraising expression. She stepped away from the wall, casually dropping a duffel bag behind her. She was out of uniform for once, in loose-fitting dark pants and a white tank top that didn't quite adequately conceal old scars snaking across her chest and stomach. "Not bad," she said, "Your stance would use some work, but you've got a solid right hook."

"Two older brothers at home." Not to mention when they had them a few ranch hands. Having a spitfire personality helped a little as well, but, well, Toni was not going to say a word about that. The Commander probably already knew that one. "Picked up a few nasty habits from them."

When she stood straight once more the woman winced, favoring still her left leg as she moved to grab a water bottle she had on a bench close by. "Was always more about getting them a solid whooping rather than watching stances with them."
