I think that it is because they get a giant kick out of watching us all fall for their evil plot to make fools out of ourselves by attempting to answer them. Seriously...dentists are evil. lol

I think it's a challenge for them to actually figure out what we're saying - breaks up the monotony of digging in dirty mouths all day. :D

Could be. But like today for example. I actually tried to reply to a question when she was working on my mouth and I literally drooled all over myself. So I think they do it to amuse themselves and embarass us lol.

*giggles* Liz, as in Dave and Liz, is a hygenist, and she says it's force of habit - and it's fun to try to decipher what you're saying AND see what happens with the drool...LMAO

*hugs*

lmao maybe. Or they want us to make weird sounds so they can laugh at us while we have our eyes closed while they work on us. I mean my dental assistant wears a mask. So she could totally be quietly laughing at me and I would never know.

after every dental visit I always want to learn sign language so that I can still answer without talkign and show them!! *hmph*

seriously though I think it's a class they teach in dental school- How to ask probing questions while probing a mouth. LOL!

That would be an awesome idea. Of course if they didn't know sign language they'd probably think you were having a seizure or something.
