Day 2 - Friday, August 28th - As often the case things were a bit slow getting started. This first day it rained much of the day, though I don't think that effected much. Some of the members of the beekeeping class assembled briefly to sort things out but it was generally understood we would start the next day. Fortunately we did go out and open ( Read more... )

Yeah it would have been perrrrrrrfect and I was really bummed they didn't even interview me. If I'd known they were that impatient to make a decision I probably could have called in from the capitol or something and gotten to them a few days early, or even made an appointment to talk to them from the cybercafe in the regional capitol. :-/

):

On the bright side, I just applied to a bunch of beekeeping jobs all around the world and got several emails back and two calls (both from the Melbourne area in Australia coincidentally) already. (: the Davis job would have been perfect but at least there's other options still (:

I've been applying to other jobs now, first round was a bunch of international development related jobs with bodies of the UN and such, never heard back from any of them, never have in my whole life. Then I switched gears and applied to bee related jobs around the world .... and got a lot of quick and enthusiastic responses (: There's at least one I'm pretty excited about in Australia. Not as perfect as the Davis job but I think it sounds pretty good. ::crossing all my fingers::

Keep us posted!
I live in bee central here. All of the bees in the neighborhood [and wasps and hornets...]seem to congregate in my yard. I let them. They're the reason why my flowers flower!

Aw, nuts. I was really hoping you'd get to interview for that job!

The hives above look a little flat. Is that the local custom for beekeeping?

A little flat? Yeah they use topbar hives that expand horizontally versus the frame hives we use in the developed world that get boxes added on top. (:
