12 month doc visit today. Wm comes in at 29.25" tall (hanging out at the 25th percentile), half an ounce shy of 19 pounds (dropping down to the 5th percentile), with an 18.75" noggin. What's with the people who'll use any argument they can make out of playdoh, paper clips, and bits of real words they've snipped out of the newspaper to rally against vaccinations? Have they never heard of smallpox?

Ungh, that is horrible. And corrections never never EVER get as much press as the original statement, so you know that despite the study being completely discredited, you'll never get people to totally shut up about it.

We delayed MMR with our kids, but for an entirely different reason: I got it when I was 12 months, and promptly came down with actual measles. (This led to an entertaining conversation with my mom, when I was a college freshman and measles and mumps were going around campus -- I called to ask if I'd had a live-virus vaccine, and she said, "Boy, did you EVER!") So we held off until 18 months and did them not in conjunction with another vaccine and not at a time when either kid was sick, so it was only one wallop to the immune system at a time.
