First Reaction (somewhere very early in the morning): OMG *I* WROTE THIS SCENE ALMOST EXACTLY AND THEN NEVER DID ANYTHING WITH IT AND THE ONLY BIG DIFFERENCE WAS IT WASN'T AT THE CLUB AND JOE AND LUCY GOT IN A FIGHT WITH SOME BITCH AND HER BOYFRIEND BECAUSE THE GIRL CALLED LUCY A WHORE FOR NO REASON WOW EM AND I MUST BE BRAIN TWINS OR SOMETHING AND --- *collapses from exhaustion/sleep madness*

Second Reaction (later that day day, near 11 AM my time): You're wonderful. I know you don't write Joe very often, because Critic/Chick/other people are a little higher up in your favorites list and you understand them better, but you've got him very well, here. And the glimpses we get into both Mary's past and her overall thought process is lovely; I particularly love the last line, because I feel like it fits them both and just their overall relationship very well.

Beautiful. I always love when we see glimpses into people's pasts, giving us little insights into what makes them tick, why they are the way they are, and it works perfectly here. The paragraph where Mary thinks about how Joe worries her is perfection as is the last line.
