Donovan Concert in small town Iowa

Last night I went to a really interesting (almost awesome) concert here in Fairfield, Iowa:
The concert was organized to benefit the David Lynch Foundation, and director David Lynch was there on the stage introducing each act, all of whom were there as a personal favor to him (I believe).

I've heard that Paul McCartney's son really is talented. I haven't heard anything of his though. I should look around.

I've been searching for something online and can't find anything...
James McCartney's band has done some performances in the UK, but evidently not enough to get put up on youtube or anything.... So I'm guessing we'll just have to wait a while (I do think he'll become more prominent in time).

Aww, I'm so glad you had such a good time :-)

I used to love Donovan and didn't realise he was still perfoming... *must look to see if he's got anything planned in the UK*

hugs!

Yeah I don't think he does a lot of touring, but it does seem like he does some smaller things (I found a couple of his recent stuff on youtube):

(at Trinity College in 2007)

I think the playlist last night was
(Donovan singing alone w/his guitar):
Catch the Wind
Colours
(and then w/Little Death):
Sunshine Superman
Season of the Witch
something I haven't heard w/funny lyrics... Riki Tiki Tavi?
Mellow Yellow

I think there was at least one other number, but I'm not sure... it is hard to remember everything after the fact.

It is amazing how some old musicians can roll back the years on stage - they showed Burt Bacharach at the BBC Electric Proms and he was still playing away for the whole evening. And Donovan's a lovely Scottish boy too.

it might have helped that my expectations were low, but it was really a pretty magical evening... I'm so glad I got to see him in person (his music really was an important part of my youth).
