Depends on what computer you're using... if it's a PC, I'm no help at all. If it's a Mac, I can help.

I can use either. If it's Mac software it would have to be Freeware, though.

I have that on my PC though it doesn't seem all that intuitive.

I do have Alara video converter and some .avi files I could use. My problem is finding out how to edit the .avi files. Can I do that in Movie Maker? The other question is, in Vegas, does it include a watermark when it's done? I'm open to different software but it has to be easy to use because I only have two weeks once I've done my proposal to create it.

vdub would be the editor for your avi files. Basically, you open the file in that program, and can scan to find what you're looking for, the create new start and stop points to save only those bits as a new file without affecting your existing files. If provides a basic window, a full time line, and basic controls like start, stop, forward, fastforward, reverse et al. You then just drag the mini files into your vidding program.

I've never even opening Movie Maker, so I can't answer questions there, but yeah, you can include a watermark in Vegas, I'm 99% sure. I would also think that would be answered on the Sony website when research the features of the trial program. If you go through the basic tutorials for Sony Vegas, I'm sure you could put together your project, even if you don't ever do anything else. Of course, I'm assuming you're not looking to do major special effects, just the basics of stringing clips together, adding a few transitions and setting it to some kind of soundtrack :)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I want to do. I have to get approval from my lecturer, though. I downloaded vdub last night and yes, it's not so intuitive!
