FF: Man Without a Country

This has been sitting, unedited, on my hard drive for a while. In light of the season finale, it seemed like a good time to do a little editing and share.

Title: Man Without a Country
Author: Ellie elliestories
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Post-"The Man from the Other Side" (2.19)
Summary: He'd never promised to stay in Boston. He just hadn't left yet.

He knew how to disappear completely. )

I liked this. I deduce that this is Peter without you saying so by name until almost the end.

Nice. This in particular struck me:

What had happened there, to his real parents, those people he couldn't remember who must have loved him just as much as Walter claimed to here, when he disappeared? Had they waited for him to return to them, to come home, to be ransomed?

It's really resonant--that he's sparing a thought for the real parents who loved him, while thinking about the people that he loves-but-is-too-angry-to-admit-it, who love him too...this complicated tangle. Lovely.

The relationships, especially family relationships, on the show really are such a complicated tangle. It would be hard not to wonder, I think.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thoroughly enjoyed this, I only saw the finale yesterday so this was almost a balm to my confused mind (g).

Thank you!

It seems such a simple time, when Peter being gone simply meant leaving the hospital for parts unknown. My poor brain's been working overtime trying to figure out the finale.
