ELISI ELISI I SAW YOU POSTED THIS AND FREAKED OUT AND I HAVEN'T READ IT YET. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO READ JUST NOW SO I WILL COME BACK I JUST HAD TO HYPERVENTILATE AT YOU FIRST.

And ALSO I had to tell you two things:

(1) I posted my 2nd lot of Eye meta last week! I don't know if you saw it? You are probably the only person who would care, so I'm just flagging it up :-)

(2) That vid I mentioned that such_heights and I were making that you will love? We JUST posted it! :-D Head over to her journal and enjoy :-)

Ok, will come back and read this in a bit when I have all the time to properly enjoy it. <3333 (well done for getting your brain to co-operate!)

I figured you probably hadn't seen it :-) I look forward to alllllll the discussion of EVERYTHING later, when I'm not posting a vid and baking flapjacks and about to leave the house to hang out with friends in three dimensions. Later tonight!

Ohhh. Permission to squee?

I will come back and do my usual thing of quoting great gobbets of this and commenting and reverberating and who knows what else, but for now I just want to say thank you. Superb, as always.

Oh, squeeing is not just permitted, it is actively encouraged! :D

Thank YOU! Looking forward to your thoughts very much, although be warned that my brain is somewhat fried... ;)

Longer gap than expected because I saw the Met at the Movies re-broadcast of Carmen and then had to get my thoughts together on that, which took too long. But while watching Don José hide Carmen’s red flower before turning to greet Micaëla in her blue dress I had the same thought that you did in the comments to purplefringe’s meta (don’t have a dreamwidth account or I would have commented there), that it was possible that the Clara was a fobwatched!future-Doctor after all, in which case Moffat must be laughing so hard because he gave us Peter Capaldi and a female Doctor and a female Master *all at the same time ( ... )

That is an excellent reason to be delayed! (This was my banner post-The Snowmen...)

You can log in with OpenID! 'Tis v. simple. You can even upload icons. :)

that it was possible that the Clara was a fobwatched!future-Doctor after all, in which case Moffat must be laughing so hard because he gave us Peter Capaldi and a female Doctor and a female Master *all at the same time*.
It's exactly the sort of trolling Moffat might do...

But if their knowledge of the Doctor included the chameleon arch, a single heart might not be enough to prove that “Clara” wasn’t the Doctor.
The Doctor is a Trickster... The Cybermen would know this. Also Clara is behaving just like the Doctor, by talking her way out of the situation.

Mm not sure if it's a Xanatos Gambit because she didn't actually plan the moment in the graveyard. It just happened to serve her purposes

This is why I added the 'by accident' thing. It's what she ends up with, and it is a win.

ETA: Re-worded it a bit. And did you see the vid? It is everything I could ever want.

I am glad the fandom is united in thinking that is Their Song.

Oooh. As just about always happens with your DW meta, this has gone straight into my memories because you always catch so much more than I do in the episodes - see Missy mirroring Clara and how that puts Missy into a different place in the narrative that she wasn't expecting.

I loved the CS Lewis quotes as well - incredibly interesting and deeply appropriate. Are they all from Mere Christianity?

It's an ever-evolving thing, and I am very fortunate that I have someone who shares my brain to talk to & throw thoughts back and forth. And then, at some point, magic happens and the whole thing unlocks. :)

The long one about forgiveness certainly is. Am not 100% sure about the others, but I've linked to the sources, so that should tell you? On the whole, 'Mere Christianity' is one of my go-to books. If you want more about love specifically, I'd recommend 'The Four Loves' which is utterly wonderful. <3

Your metas...your metas are always perfection. I have one quibble - the 'fake fixed point' at Lake Silencio. I don't think it was fake. The Doctor HAD to be there and he was...just not as expected. But he definitely lived up to the fixed point and made sure it wouldn't break time again.

Eleven was rescued from himself a lot. Clara was the epitome of that and I find it funny, that just like Missy-Master, she showed up LONG before we could find the relevance. The reveals ripple back over two seasons and that is MARVELOUS.

I always wanted the Master to show during the Doctor's timeline. Funny. She/he DID. We just didn't see how until Twelve.

Twelve...ye gods. The man who LEARNS.

It is amazing, really. We always see the Doctor through the Companion's eyes. This time we LIVE through Clara's eyes and see through his own.

This is just...thank you for this meta. I shall be thinking on it for a long, long time.

Maybe 'fake' wasn't the best way of putting it, but it was created and he escaped. (And he had to escape because he had to go to Trenzalore...) So Lake Silencio was rigged, and came with a built-in 'out'. Danny's death does not.

IKR? I love how Moffat does this - reveals something, and that thing then changes how we view the story so far.

Twelve...ye gods. The man who LEARNS. The Doctor is slow. ( ... )

Sadly, the Doctor built an 'out' for Danny...but Danny being Danny, he gave that shot at life to the child that had haunted him for so long, so he could TRULY rest in peace. Wonderful and terrible all at once.

That was one bit I didn't have space to address! I don't think the Doctor built it - I think it was part and parcel of the bracelet. After all, Missy constantly popped in and out of the Nethersphere - it makes sense that it was the bracelet that she used for this. And that once the Nethersphere started falling apart, the bracelet would be toast too.

Although yes - there was an out, or a cheat, but it did not have the outcome the Doctor anticipated.
