yes! they are buñuelos!
deep fried in vegetable oil then dusted with cinnamon sugar...yummm

they are actually raw flour tortillas.
they puff up when you deep fry them, though, so thats why they might look like pitas.
they are deep fried, dusted with cinnamon sugar, then served alone or with ice cream, which is what we did.
they are quite delicious.

I'm going to guess they are some sort of fried cinnamon and sugar snack and the white stuff is a mixture of cream cheese and cool whip with cinnamon mixed in?
