This was really, really amazing. I love stories that explore the Year That Never Was, and this one was exceptional. Gripping, heart-wrenching, and full of angsty goodness. You really did a beautiful job capturing the different emotions and the desperation of the Torchwood team. And the descriptions were fantastic, so vivid and impacting, I could visualize just how far the team had went to pull off their plan. The surgery scene left me at the edge of my seat, twisting my hands in anxiety as to whether they'd pull it off. The realism in that portion was superb and definitely gave the audience a sense that they were in the moment, right there looking over everything as Owen and Tosh tried to turn Ianto into a walking transmitter ( ... )

And suddenly the conversation about "what anesthetic would you use for field surgery post-apocalypse" becomes crystal clear. :D That whole sequence was very well-done and tense, and I loved the fighting through the hopelessness of the scene on the Valiant.

:D I still have a whole bunch of RL friends who have no idea why I was so obsessed with finding the answer to that question for a week. But opium was the popular answer across the board! And then Saria told me I couldn't roll opium in a joint because I'm clueless.

I don't think I've ever managed to write anything tense before, and I'm bowled over by the response to those two scenes. The surgery was very nearly cut because I'm sure that anyone with half a medical degree would laugh me off the internet.

I'm so glad you liked it!

T3 were really brave and I was so proud of the way they pulled together and sacrificed for the world. Great story!

I really enjoyed pulling them together as a team in this story. And even powerless, they fought on their own terms. Thank you!

Wow, this was intense! I've got a lump in my throat right now, and it takes a lot to get me choked up! They were all so brilliant, and brave, and doomed. (Except perhaps Tosh and Martha and that little ray of hope at the end!) Excellently done.

Thanks! It's a really wearing, emotional story and I've been really pleased that so many people have been affected by it. *hands you tissue*

I think your summation is perfect. They were all brave and brilliant and doomed. (Even I don't know what happens to Tosh next.)

Wow. I had to stop reading a couple of times during the surgery and on the Valiant because it was almost too vivid and painful. An excellent imagining of the Year the Never Was. Oh Tosh...

I am so glad you came back to finish the story, and I'm glad you like it! I'm pleased that those two scenes worked out so well.

And oh Tosh indeed. She's not giving up yet.
