Awwww, how poignant! You've really captured the dislocation that one feels after waking from a dream of a bygone era. Poor Ianto.

But hey, Jack coming in all possessive-like has got to be a good thing. :)

I tried to leave Jack as a totally blank slate, so I'm really interested to see how people read him! (Possessive is good. :D)

Interesting--I read it as Jack using a key to let himself IN, which presumes a certain degree of familiarity with the flat and with Ianto. ;)

Which is a bit odd because I'm not usually one for fluffy, cuddly domestic scenes, but maybe my brain thought Ianto needed one after that dream?

Oh, I wanted to make it clear that Jack was letting himself in (although y'know, readers can do what they want) but I wasn't willing to sacrifice words elsewhere to do it.

But how he got in, the expression on his face, I left the deliberately open to negotiation. And I cut it off before we could get a reaction from Jack or Ianto. Fluffy and domestic is a valid reading! Ianto would probably appreciate it at that point.

S'weird, I wasn't really sure when it happens, so I didn't really aim to make it so sad, just sort of startling (to Ianto, waking up from the nap). But everyone has been so sad! *hugs*

I don't know why it struck me as so sad, but it did! ;) And it's funny to me because I've written things before too that didn't seem all that sad at all to me, but have left people in tears, so... I suppose it's all a matter of perception? XD;
