I dunno... Don't get me wrong; I love Helena. But in S2 especially she's so stuck in that trope of rape-revenge fantasy, and the problem there as always is that she only gains and becomes able to express the power that she has through the process of (brutal) victimisation. Women shouldn't need to be damaged before they're allowed to start taking names.

I think you're mostly right, but I will give the show this: Helena's revenge fantasy is balanced out by the other women's stories. Sarah, Cosima, Allison, Rachel and Helena are all BAMFs in their own way, and by not focusing completely on Helena, other femininities are allowed to come out.
