Ok. It is more a idea. There is prober guides to a lot of substyles, but some styles seems mising or simply out of date. The Classic style has changed a lot since fYeah Lolita Blog's guide to starting a lolita wardrobe, while sweet is more himeish than ever. And Boystyle/Ouji is not longer about wearing long white bloomers to your white blouse ( Read more... )

I read a fairly old blog once, suggesting that white bloomers and shirt.

I don't want lumping all under one, I really think wa lolita is more like single look than a real substyle. And somewhat confusing with all these tags. Like pirate, steampunk or sailor. Even teampunk is substyle outside lolita, but steampunk lolita is more gothic lolita with a classic colourbase and extra many gears on.

Silvertoile: I adore oldschool pretty much, but I am not keen on the black-white combo Tumblr/Facebook/Social media thinks is oldschool.

Ekaterin: It is more a seasonal thing I guess. Any old school sweet wardrobe or classic wardrobe would easy transform into country wardrobe.

I wouldn't say that oldschool is really that limited in its palette, far from! But the posts that get big on Closet of Frills are :P I wear mainly oldschool and I have just a single black and white dress.
As for hime, I'd dare to say hime's pretty much dead, as much as I love it. Hime gyaru is dead, so is hime lolita.

of course, since hime lolita is dead, one could argue that hime lolita is now an "old school" look. :P I never wore the style but I loved the crazy big hair and ott head gear! =^.^=

I'm something of a Country Lolita (also natural kei, but that's another kettle of frilly fish) and I've met a few others in my area. Is that dying, or just a very small substyle?

Most people aren't specifically country lolitas because it's more of a themed coordinate than a specific style. It's my favourite, but haven't built my wardrobe towards it much yet.
We're seeing a small resurgence in old school, so hopefully country will return along with this, as from what I remember it peaked in popularity around 2007-2009, so is kind of older too.

I think it would get its revival then people are tired of being the good fantasy princess, that never existed. I think it is out, because it is a bit minimalistic, but not so much minimalistic as old school. Secondly the eneral fashion is general maximalistic, so we see a lot of rococo and baroque in lolita, but not much the 70s pairie girl.
