Sebastian and I went to the fireworks last night. The fireworks themselves were good and the pre-fireworks social crowd was great. Kids running around having fun, individuals setting off their own fireworks, people launching those floating tissue paper bags, a DJ playing music (Goodbye American Pie, etc). But when the actual fireworks started I ( Read more... )

Go ahead and write the letter to the editor. Our local symphony used to do live 1812 Overture so at least...it was real music and being played live..... but I agree with you, yuck yuck yuck.

Maybe I'm just old, or some kind of a fireworks purest but this is the first time I ever heard music playing while the fireworks were happening - and I did NOT like it.

Around here, 4th of July is always fireworks accompanied by music at the downtown event.

If you go to the lake shows, though... just fireworks.
And New Years was always just fireworks.

I didn't care about 4th of July fireworks since in about 2 weeks I will be in Venice seeing the Redentore fireworks... one of the biggest/best firework shows in the world. I was there in 2018... the couple on one side of me was from the UK, the couple on the other side of me was from India... both came just for Redentore... THAT'S how good the fireworks are.

I looked up the Redendore fireworks and wow! I hadn't heard of them before. Saw some youtubes. That will be fabulous!

It's too bad they played such awful music or any at all. It's nice to hear the ooh's and ahh's when watching fireworks. It's been a long time since I've been to a firework display.

This was the very first time I'd ever heard music playing during the fireworks in this town. Though now I have learned in some places it is common. Next year, if I go, I will make a point of sitting as far away from the music speakers as I can.

start out by thanking them
tell them how much you love fireworks
how happy they make you
how pleased and happy you are that they make them available.
tell them how much you like to hear the boom
what it means to you
that you were sad that the music drowned out the part that was so much of your enjoyment.

(Don't mention their choice of music)

tell them you are looking forward to next year and hope that the boom will be back.

Maybe other people feel the same
if you son't tell them they will never know and there is no hope of change

Actually I think I'm more the kind of person who might drop into the chamber of commerce and talk to them in person about it... And I would start out first of all with mentioning that I appreciate them. :-)

Yeah, music during the display would be annoying.

Yeah, it's like isn't it enough entertainment to have exploded lights in front of you, you need blasting music too?
