Well, I guess I'm one of those weirdo edgers that don't listen to hardcore. I'm more of a numetal kind of girl; Slipknot, Godsmack, Disturbed, System of a Down, KoRn, etc etc.
Well, that's not exactly something you decide (or consider for that matter). Anyways, in my opinion, it's not like Straight Edge and Hardcore are one and the same; they're both QUITE separate from each other, and just because it was originated in the hardcore scene doesn't mean you HAVE to be hardcore in order to follow the basic rules of the edge: no drugs, no casual sex, no alcohol. Then again, that's just my point of view. Besides, there is absolutely no hardcore/punk scenes anywhere in Puerto Rico, so it's not even an option for me.

I think its interesting to see how different people from different places became straight edge. In a way, it seems hard to understand how someone can be fully edge without being into hardcore music
